{"id":13265,"date":"2023-02-20T05:19:35","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T02:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vot.tj\/en\/?p=13265"},"modified":"2023-02-20T13:20:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T10:20:32","slug":"blinken-visits-disaster-hit-turkiye-pledges-100m-in-aid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/vot.tj\/en\/?p=13265","title":{"rendered":"Blinken visits disaster-hit T\u00fcrkiye, pledges $100M in aid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has visited T\u00fcrkiye following the February 6 twin earthquakes in the country that also affected northern Syria, and pledged a further $100 million in aid to help the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is going to be a long-term effort,\u201d Blinken said at Incirlik Air Base, a joint US-Turkish facility that has coordinated the distribution of disaster aid, after taking a helicopter tour of one of the worst affected provinces on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you see the extent of the damage, the number of buildings, the number of apartments, the number of homes that have been destroyed, it&#8217;s going to take a massive effort to rebuild,\u201d the top US diplomat said.<\/p>\n<p>US President Joe Biden announced $85 million for T\u00fcrkiye and Syria days after the earthquake that has killed more than 46,500 people in the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The US has also sent a search and rescue team, medical supplies and equipment.
